An Unexpected Photo Shooting

What do you do when you’re on a family vacation, when you’ve promised to spend time with the grandchildren and NOT with your camera and totally unexpectedly you almost stumble across some very photogenic caterpillars on your way home from the beach …and thousands of tiny snails climbing on any kind of plant on the camp ground…and even more caterpillars of different kinds which you’ve never seen before??? You just make it a common project with the kids 😊.

They were so eager to offer their small sand buckets to save the little creatures from being stepped on.   After we had consulted the internet what species they were and what kind of diet they preferred the two of them looked for the desired plants, fed the caterpillars, watched them nibbling at the leaves, watched them pooping and then: picture time - with two little enthusiastic assistants and no excuses accepted 😅:

Too much wind and sun outside?

~> we used the tent of our Bully as a makeshift photo studio

No white background?

~> we borrowed a white T-shirt from my son in law which worked perfectly.

This way I could take some nice photos of different moth caterpillars and the following day of tiny snails of which there were hundreds clinging to the wildflowers, grass or nettles all around us. The kiddies had fun, learnt a lot and I was happy with my pictures 😊.
